Flower at Dawn

Flower at Dawn

By edgie polistico

At dawn, open the petals

of your lovely face

Allow the morning dew

dampen your tender cheeks

Spread and flaunt to me

your fresh blossom

And let your nectar exude

and let it drip free

For there are butterflies

and a bee like me

A flower at dawn,

Lady, you are to me

Stood petite yet gallantly imposing like a monumental rock

Firm and never ceded to fight against time

Pile of hard stone that never shake
Behold the masterpiece of the Great Mason
The only soft and tender is the heart

A vine that grips through the opportunity of life
With roots clinging into the crevices for support and to survive
The only desire is to grow and to climb
Begging more life to grow with time
Longing to pick sweet berries when harvest day comes
Exquisitely hot to taste like wine

You’ll never forget the day first time you see her enchanting smile

Love and the Sunset

Love and the Sunset
by edgie polistico

Tired of rolling
in unfathomable heaven
Behind the curls
of white blue and gray

Blinding the world
and the shadow creeps
Weary eyes of the sun
late wishes as it sleeps

Wind rumbles the palms
murmuring song it has sung
And sweet melody it brings
while you’re still in my arms

Time passses time
wave chases waves
One thing for sure
these will never change

Sights are fading
fading is the day
Footsteps drawn
drown on the bay

Holding hands tight
weak hearts fight
Kisses of heaven
we both have given

So it’s getting dark
afraid now to swim
Because of lurking sharks
that may to us dine

We better play
a game discreetly today
No shadow – no show
the world at us cannot see

Cold wind brushes our skin
hot blood flushes shield us well
Measuring the depth of yours
and the length of mine we will

We determine the gap
of heaven and earth
That only horizon
divides and ends

Asin-Tamis

Tumatamis Din Ang Asin

      .... walang imik
        .... laging itinatanggi
.... laging tanga
                    ....parang di bale na nga.

Lipad-uwi

Lipad-Uwi

Ni Edgie Polistico

Pagpukaw ng araw
Tingnan mo ang mga ibong
lumipad papuntang silangan
Masdan mo sa dapi't hapo'y
nagsisibalik din sa pinamumugaran

Malayang pakpak iwinawagayway
Munting sisiw na may munting pangarap
Nakaantay sa tagapagsubo ng uod,
kung dumating ba nama'y di nakakabusog

Tila ikot ng mundo ay balisang-balisa
Pagkat lahat ng dahon sa sanga ay
mahuhulog na sa lanta
Ibong isip malaya 'di gustong rito'y mangitlog
kahit na dito siya nilimliman at pinisa

Malayong ibayo'y pilit madatal
Mahanap at makantan lamang ang butil
na pangarap
Bantay-ingat baka masaklaw ng mabangis na kuko
o di kaya'y mahagip man ng ipinukol na bato

Sa tanghali abala sa ibayong berdeng damohan
Sagana sa hamog at sikat ng araw
Punong hitik sa bunga nakakaakit sa kumakalam na tiyan
Manginain at mabusog dito'y di matatanggihan

Tubig ba doo'y tila alak
Balak mong tumagay kilangan mo
ring magsikap

Dedicated to all our fellow country-folks who left our land in search of greener pasture across the seas and the horizon.

Babalik ka rin! And to the rest of our fellow who moved to other places in the country for some reasons they know best. Babalik ka rin!

EDGIE

When I woke up and opened my eyes this morning, I wondered what life has to offer me today. Then when I took my bath, I closed my eyes for a while then look through the small window straight to heaven and prayed before I poured water on my head. As the water flowed down into my face and body, I felt I was born again and ready to receive the grace of the Lord.

My body and soul were refreshed for a new day is born.

Ang Kahoy

ANG KAHOY

(The Tree)

ni Edgie Polistico

Nagtindog sulod sa mga katuigan
Mahilomong nagpuyo
Nagaawit uban sa hinuyohoy
Naningkamot sa pagtubo

Milipang uban sa kinaiyahan
Gipahimsog ang mga gamot ug sanga
Gawasnong binuhat
Para sa mga binuhat nga gawasnon

Tigpanalipod sa yuta
Batok sa mapintas nga kinaiyahan
Nagpandong sa mga nilalang
Nagsangga sa mga katubigan

Pangandoy makab-ot ang langit
Diha sa pailub nga pagtubo
Maunongong gamot mikupkop sa yuta
Pakamatyan niya ang pagbiya
